Accessibility.
Finding cigar information should be usable and understandable, including for people with disabilities.
1. Our commitment and scope
We want adults with a wide range of visual, hearing, motor and cognitive abilities to use MyCigarHunt. Accessibility is part of how we design, build and review the service, and we welcome reports about barriers that testing misses.
This statement covers the MyCigarHunt website: discovery and catalog pages, search and comparison, cigar images and price information, My Humidor, account screens and our information pages. External retailer sites and identity-provider sign-in screens are operated by others. We can investigate our links and handoffs, but cannot promise to fix another organization’s interface.
2. Standard and current status
Our proposed ongoing target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA. These guidelines address a broad range of accessibility needs, but do not cover every individual requirement.
We are not claiming full WCAG conformance, ADA certification or compatibility with every assistive technology. Earlier launch checks used WCAG 2.1 A/AA criteria on selected pages. The design has since changed, and that earlier result is not a certification of the current website. A complete current evaluation, including assistive-technology testing, remains outstanding.
3. Features that support access
- Page structure: headings, navigation landmarks and a Skip to content link help people move around pages.
- Keyboard controls: standard links, buttons, labeled forms and visible focus styles support keyboard use. Dialogs contain focus while open, and image lightboxes offer a close control and Escape support.
- Image navigation: click a thumbnail to enlarge it on the page. A cigar’s gallery has Previous and Next buttons, left/right arrow-key navigation and an image count. Captions distinguish exact cigar images from series or brand references.
- Information beyond graphics: cigar specifications, observed price ranges, package basis and retailer counts are provided as text. Images and visual ratings have accessible descriptions or labels; an image is not the only way to identify a cigar.
- Adaptable presentation: responsive layouts support smaller screens, and styles reduce animation when your device requests reduced motion. Browser zoom and text enlargement remain available.
- Form feedback: controls have labels and validation/status messages are provided in text. Unavailable features are described rather than presented as functioning services.
These are implemented design measures, not a promise that every page and state is free of barriers.
4. Using the site with assistive tools
Use Tab and Shift+Tab to move among controls, Enter to follow links, and Enter or Space to activate buttons as supported by your browser. The Skip to content link appears when focused. The series list can be expanded or collapsed using its labeled disclosure. In an open image gallery, use the Previous/Next controls or left/right arrow keys; press Escape or choose Close to leave it.
The site uses HTML, CSS, JavaScript and browser storage. JavaScript is required for the age-confirmation interaction and features such as My Humidor, account forms, image enlargement and some filters/sorting. Some catalog content and links are server-rendered, but we do not claim the full experience works with JavaScript disabled. Blocking browser storage can prevent saved preferences and age confirmation from persisting.
Automated browser checks exercise desktop Chromium and a mobile Chromium viewport. A simulated phone viewport is not a test on a real iPhone or with VoiceOver. Compatibility across Safari, Firefox, NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack, voice input and switch control has not been comprehensively verified. If your combination encounters a barrier, include it in a report if you can.
5. Known limitations
- Dense catalog controls: some small links and compact controls still need a complete WCAG 2.2 target-size and focus-obscuring review.
- Visual presentation: the general automated accessibility smoke suite currently excludes contrast and in-text link-distinction rules. Those exclusions are a testing gap, not proof that the current colors and links satisfy the standard. Full-site contrast, zoom and reflow review remains necessary.
- Complex interactions: filters, live result updates, authentication, age confirmation and galleries need further end-to-end testing with real screen readers and other assistive tools.
- Descriptions and outside content: image descriptions and manufacturer/retailer terminology may not communicate every visual detail. Retailer checkout, external documents and provider sign-in may have their own barriers.
- Contact availability: The contact email below is available for accessibility feedback. Response targets and escalation arrangements are still being finalized.
These limitations are not intended to discourage use or waive anyone’s rights. They identify work to be assessed and addressed. We cannot yet provide a reliable completion date for every item.
6. How we evaluate accessibility
Development checks combine automated rules with keyboard, focus, dialog, responsive-layout and user-journey testing on selected pages. Automated tools find only some issues; passing them does not establish that a person using assistive technology can complete every task.
We distinguish recorded test results from a comprehensive audit. The current release has not received an independent accessibility certification. Findings, affected tasks and validation results should guide fixes, with barriers that prevent access to content or essential controls addressed first.
7. Report a barrier or request help
For accessibility feedback or a request for an accessible alternative, email hello@mycigarhunt.com.
Useful details to include in your message:
- The page address and what you were trying to do.
- What happened and what you expected instead.
- Your browser, device and assistive technology, if you know them.
- The format or type of assistance that would help, and any time-sensitive need.
- A preferred way to reply, if you want a response.
You do not need to disclose a diagnosis, prove a disability, identify a WCAG criterion or provide a screenshot to describe a problem. Please omit passwords, authentication codes and unnecessary personal information. Feedback is handled as described in our privacy policy.
The proposed support process is to acknowledge the report, assess the affected task, discuss an accessible alternative where feasible and communicate the next step or known limitation. A staffed response target and escalation contact must be confirmed before launch; this draft does not promise a turnaround time that is not yet supported.
8. Review and improvement
We intend to review accessibility as designs and features change, record confirmed barriers, test fixes and update this statement when the service’s capabilities or limitations change. Feedback from people with disabilities is an important part of that work.
The date above identifies this draft, not a conformance certificate. The approved statement will include an effective date and a working contact route.
